Mission
Shane and Heidi established the Battier Take Charge Foundation to encourage and inspire leadership qualities in young people. As a leader on and off the court, Shane believes in cultivating the quality of leadership in today's youth. It's the Battiers' belief that providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children and teens is the most efficient method of inspiring this new generation of potential leaders.
Through their philanthropic efforts the Battiers have donated to a number of organizations who focus on youth and education.
Company Overview
Shane and Heidi both grew up in Birmingham, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. They met in the 7th grade where they attended Detroit Country Day School. Heidi then attended Villanova University, where she played varsity field hockey, graduating with a BA in Communication. Shane went on to earn a BA in Religion from Duke University, where he became an All-American, winning the National Championship his senior year and establishing himself as one of the all time winningest players in the history of college basketball. They were married in July 2003 and have one son and one daughter.
